Whether you’re entertaining friends or just looking to make a delicious dinner, cooking with CBD oil can be fun and easy. All you need is your favorite ingredients and some CBD oil or isolate to make a delicious, CBD-infused dish.

Cooking with CBD oil is super easy, too. In fact, it’s so easy you might find yourself wondering if you skipped a step. Once you’ve tasted your dish though, you’ll realize just how easy and tasty CBD-infused meals can be.

So let’s get to it. We’ll give you the basics on how to cook with CBD. Plus, we’ll show you a super easy CBD recipe to whip up this summer.

Best practices for cooking with CBD oil

Cooking with CBD oil is super easy. But there are a few things to keep in mind when you do it to ensure that your recipes turn out as planned. First of all, only use high quality, pure CBD for cooking. It’s crucial to use products that are tested for purity and potency from an ISO-accredited laboratory.

Secondly, when cooking with CBD oil, it’s best to use recipes with fat. Butter and oil in a recipe will let you know that it’s a good match. Additionally, you’ll want to make sure that the recipe you use does not get too hot to scald the CBD. You do not want it to come in contact with direct heat. That’s why most recipes will instruct you to stir it into the final product as opposed to frying it on the skillet.

Finally, start low if you don’t know how much CBD is the right dose for you. It can be a process to figure out the optimal dose. Keep in mind that when you eat CBD, your body will break some of it down. If you normally take it sublingually, you may want to add a little more to account for what will break down in the body.

Vegetarian Chili and CBD recipe

Like most instances of cooking with CBD, this recipe is super adaptable and easy to make. Feel free to swap out different vegetables or add in extra to make it even more flavorful. We sourced and adapted this recipe from a Food Network Summer Vegetable Chili

Ingredients:

  • 3 tbsp vegetable oil
  • 1 chopped medium onion
  • 3 chopped garlic cloves
  • 2 tbsp chili powder
  • 2 tsp ground cumin
  • 1 diced poblano chili
  • ½ cup diced mushrooms
  • 2 cups frozen corn
  • 1 can pinto beans
  • 1 can black beans
  • ½ cup fresh diced tomatoes (or canned)
  • Your preferred dose of CBD oil
  • 1 ½ cups vegetable broth
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Cheese, sour cream, or cilantro to top (optional)

Directions:

Heat the vegetable oil in a large saucepan over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and cook for 1-2 minutes until they become aromatic. Stir in garlic, chili powder, cumin, and poblano. Cook for another 2-3 minutes until tender and aromatic. Add the mushrooms and tomatoes and continue to sauté over medium heat. Add the corn and stir for another 2-3 minutes. Now, add in the beans, tomatoes, and 1 ½ cups of vegetable broth to the saucepan. Stir and reduce heat to medium-low. Add salt and pepper to taste.

When the chili is thick, about 20 minutes later, stir in your preferred dose of CBD oil. You want to add it towards the end of the process, once you’ve lowered the heat on your food. Remember, when cooking with CBD you don’t want to scald the CBD oil or cause it to lose efficiency because of the heat.
